Son & Sun Chill Out Restaurant

Recently I've this opportunity to visit the sea side town of Trang in Southern Thailand with 2 of my good friends. Nothing much really about Trang, a sleepy, quiet and peaceful town which is about a leisure 2.30 hours drive from Hadyai. What is worth mention during this trip is a small little hidden restaurant located in between the highway between Hadyai & Trang. We bounced into this place accidentally as we are stopping at a petrol station for a short break! The food is cheap & delicious..... and I love it so much.... especially the Tom Yum clear soup which is excellent!! The Iced Tea is excellent too!!

Litlle cozy hideaway nearby Thapae gate, Chiang Mai

Every time when I visit this lovely city.......I'll look for new place for coffee, cakes & free wifi. I was introduced by my Thai friend to this lovely garden cafe in a secluded & quiet soi nearby Thapae gate. The environment was great, the price is cheap & the service is attentive although a bit slow when the cafe is crowded by the locals. This cafe serve alcoholic & non alcoholic drinks plus simple but delicious Thai food! Strongly recommended when you are in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Here are how the cafe looks like:-

Remarks:- The only thing I forget is the name of this lovely place. I guess I'll post the name & address of this cafe once I get it from my friend. Hopefully I'll be back here again when I visit CM next month.

Hokkien mee craze!!

I had enough of hokkien mee! This morning was the fourth day in a row that I've ate hokkien mee! Why? That's all because of one fella! This fella was so obsessed with it which eventually turned me into it's victim! This friend of mine who just came back from Australia is a hokkien mee freak! In a span of four days...I've been to Jln Alor, Petaling Street & kepong for hokkien mee......It taste good but after 4 days of hokkien mee....I guess I'll stop eating it for months now! I guess he'll buzz me tonight for another session of hokkien mee! Oh My God......I have hokkien mee phobia now! Help me please someone....!!

Updated on 30/11/2009......My friend indeed called me last Friday for hokkien mee....LOL..but i rejected not because I don't like but I am just too tired and badly need a good sleep! Guess tonight would be the fifth hokkien mee session! I shall wait and see.

Some shots I've taken in Bukit Tambun

Bukit Tambun is a town located at the south of the mainland of Penang.
It is famous for its seafood restaurants, offering a variety of seafood delicacies at attractive prices. It is also located near to the Batu Kawan sports stadium. I am here for some late lunch after my Loy Kratong celebration in Danok, Thailand. To my disappointment....the food at this restaurant jetty is just so so only....where as the better restaurant Ghee Seng just opposite is not open yet by the time we reached there! Anyway I spare myself some time for some fun photo snapping! here it goes :-

Remarks:- Bukit Tambun is approximately 2.30 hours drive from Kuala Lumpur. The food here is not really that cheap...somehow the seafood is fresh. Not a bad place to dine in if you are on your way to Penang from KL. I am so tired...which eventually I forget to snap the photo of the seafood. Next time around....I'll make sure I snap at least one of it!

The famous Seremban Grilled Crab!!

As a food avid & enthusiasts myself, I would not resist the offer from my friend to smaple the infamous Seremban grilled or baked crabs! The place for this crabby thing is located within the town area with approximately 15 minutes drive from the Seremban toll gate!

We arrived early at this seafood restaurant at about 4pm after a day of video & photo shoot in Tanjung Tuan lighthouse in Port Dickson. We did order 1 kg of the famous grilled crab, a plate of vegetables, a plate of "tauhu" & a claypot of pork with salted fish & dried chilies! The total bill of the day is RM 95 for 4 person with the crab alone cost RM 45 per kg! The crab was great with some unexplainable taste and scent! Others side dishes was so so only! The grilled crab or baked crab...or whatever u want to call it is WORTH a try if you are in the Seremban town!

Remarks:-

  • Address: Lot 3794, 3795, Tuanku Munawir, 70200 Seremban, NS

  • Phone: 06-7610010

  • Directions: After the Seremban toll, turn left, go straight till you see the terminal 3 on your left, traffic light turn left... headed straight.. pass 2 traffic light... you will see a crab signboard on your left... is the first seafood restaurant on that street....

Nice foodie I've ate in Jakarta!

It's been a fantastic & tiring 4 days 3 nights trip in the metropolis of Jakarta. Perhaps one of the worst traffic jam city that I've ever visited. A short distance journey of 1.5 kilometers will sometimes take up to 30 minutes with a taxi. To make the matter worsen......the special bus only lane in city center worsen the traffic condition! However minus all the traffic woes, Jakarta is a nice & tourist friendly city! I have enough time to sample some very delicious foods & drinks around Jakarta.

I sampled this fully scented & tasty latte at Segafredo Zanetti cafe at Plaza Indonesia. The service in this outlet is a bit slow but it is worth a wait for a cup of perfectly made latte!

This is a glass of pineapple juice that are perfectly made. This pineapple juice is brought to you by Cosi cafe' inside FX lifestyle store in Jalan Sudirman.

A plate of sumptuous Nasi Goreng Orchardz that I ordered from my hotel's 24 hours cafe'. To my amaze it taste absolutely good especially the 2 sticks of satay! I gonna miss this whenever I think of Jakarta!

My first meal in Jakarta was a plate of Nasi Goreng Kampung from my hotel's cafe'! I am too hungry that I've ate the whole plate of nasi goreng in less than 5 minutes! Nevertheless it taste good and cost me 35,000 rupiah!

I wonder why Indonesian love bento so much???? I tried it after an assurance from my buddy that it is damn good! Only one word for it..... "best"it is so good that I am missing it right now! If you are in jakarta drop by any Hoka Hoka Bento outlet and ordered a bento special set....and u will smile at the end of your meal!

This fried dim sum is so delicious that I've ate it all.......I bought it from Mangga Dua Square shopping mall main entrance! 2 porsi of dim sum cost me 22,000 rupiah! (btw porsi means set in bahasa Indonesia)

Mee Hoon Goreng ayam panggang that I ordered and eat inside Grand Indonesia Shopping mall in Jalan Sudirman. Well enough for a fried mee hoon lover like me....this plate of noodle rated 8/10!

Another brand of bento franchise that I've tried in Mangga Dua WTC mall. I have to say the Hoka Hoka Bento is muchbetter than this one! Noticed the fried stuffed chicken wing....it taste really finger licking good! worth a try when you are in Jakarta!

Remarks: The price & quality of food and drink in Jakarta various from a few thousand rupiah to a few hundred thousand rupiah per meal! It is up to you to make your choice and some food is really super good that I've ate for 2 consecutively night! (Ketam goreng sos padang by Saung Grenvil) Over all it is a good and satisfying food hunting experience in Jakarta, Indonesia.

What I did for my 4D3N Jakarta Trip????

Arrived at Jakarta at noon time 10/10/2009.....proceed straight to our hotel (Orchardz Hotel). The cost for the taxi is approximately IDR 130,000 with the exchange rate IDR 10,000 = RM 3.70!! What I did in this trip?? Sampled a lot of good Indonesian foods & drinks, visited a few nice clubs & lots of shopping!! Generally Jakarta is a busy city with it's multi millions population! Traffic jam is common in place through out the day!! Well.....cut short the story and looks at my new creation from my Nikon D-60 DSLR!!!

I bet there must be millions of millionaire in Indonesia alone! I am a millionaire for a day!! Spend 2 million plus on shopping alone....phew...I am rich man!!

Surprisingly many trains passed through Jakarta city through out the day!! One of the cheapest and most reliable mode of transportation in Indonesia! Next time I'll board a train to Bandung for shopping spree!!

A popular and huge shopping mall or town in Jakarta City Centre or Jln Sudirman. This is where I bought my 13th pair of converse! Nice place to shop for your likings! A great food court on the top floor with very modern, trendy & hip interior design! Worth to pay a visit!

This is the main roundabout in Jalan Sudirman! This is also the favorite place for the street protest! Almost all the 5 star hotels, international company, luxury mall etc located in this main road!

Certified by World Guinness Book of Records!! Longest dry slider in the world! Located inside the FX lifestyle more in Jln Sudirman, Jakarta!! Nice interior architecture & design! Very impressive and one of my favorite mall in Jakarta, Indonesia.

This is the infamous Saung Grenvil where I ate the most delicious fried crab in my life yet! A MUST TRY when u r in Jakarta! Price is average with a good meal for 2 with drinks = IDR 300,00 or about RM 111.00. Location: Kompleks Grenvil Blok AV-12 A, Jakarta Barat Tel: 5659517

The most delicious Crab I've ever eat!! Kepiting Goreng Sos Padang and remember to ask for the male crab as it taste better!! The waitress told me so! The name of this restaurant owned by an Indonesian Chinese is "Saung Grenvil". This place is kind of out of the city area! But many taxi drivers will know this place! HIGHLY recommended restaurant!

Another highly recommended dish is Kepiting Goreng Lada Hitam (Black pepper fried crab). Very fresh & spicy and the meat is so sweet that it simply melts in your mouth!

Nasi Padang is so famous in Jakarta that I can almost find it everywhere in this city! Well I did not try it....and I don't know why I miss it! So strange....maybe I am just too busy with my shopping! Well looked at the photo below........my 13th pair of converse sneaker!

My latest pair of Converse One Star sneaker that i bought in Jakarta for IDR 224,000! Worth it and this design I have not seen here in my country called "Malaysia".

Remarks: Jakarta is a very huge and dense city with millions of population! Traffic jam is so common in place and weather is extremely bad and air pollution is rift! Nevertheless the people I've met is nice and generally acceptable! Food is great, taxi driver is good especially the Blue Bird taxi and shopping mall is excellent!
