Trans Indochina 2010 #Update 2

Budget ! Budget ! Budget !

As we are left with 36 weeks before the big day, I think it is much better for us to have a rough budget for the trip. Even though we travel regularly I do think a budget for this trip is adequate since it is our first backpacking trip and we are not going to spend like we used to be. That means no hotel but guesthouse, no fine dining but cheap & nutritious street food, travel by bus most of the time & maybe once in a while party at night! We are human after all and we need some sort of entertainment to motivate our self for such a long trip away from home. The pie chart below shows basically what our budget will be:-

Food & Lodging:-

USD 20 per person per day x 12 days = USD 240

Overland & Local Transportation:-
USD 20 per day x 12 days = USD 240

Miscellaneous expenses:-
USD 10 per day x 12 days = USD 120

Air Tickets for KL - Saigon & CM -KL:-
USD 150

Total Expenses:- USD 750/RM 2700 ( based on exchange rate USD 1 = RM 3.6)

Remarks:- this budget is calculated based on the writer will live in a budget guesthouse instead of hotel, eat at local stall, travel by local transportation to & fro, limited nightlife activities & no shopping for expensive souvenirs.
