Some shots I've taken in Bukit Tambun

Bukit Tambun is a town located at the south of the mainland of Penang.
It is famous for its seafood restaurants, offering a variety of seafood delicacies at attractive prices. It is also located near to the Batu Kawan sports stadium. I am here for some late lunch after my Loy Kratong celebration in Danok, Thailand. To my disappointment....the food at this restaurant jetty is just so so only....where as the better restaurant Ghee Seng just opposite is not open yet by the time we reached there! Anyway I spare myself some time for some fun photo snapping! here it goes :-

Remarks:- Bukit Tambun is approximately 2.30 hours drive from Kuala Lumpur. The food here is not really that cheap...somehow the seafood is fresh. Not a bad place to dine in if you are on your way to Penang from KL. I am so tired...which eventually I forget to snap the photo of the seafood. Next time around....I'll make sure I snap at least one of it!

The famous Seremban Grilled Crab!!

As a food avid & enthusiasts myself, I would not resist the offer from my friend to smaple the infamous Seremban grilled or baked crabs! The place for this crabby thing is located within the town area with approximately 15 minutes drive from the Seremban toll gate!

We arrived early at this seafood restaurant at about 4pm after a day of video & photo shoot in Tanjung Tuan lighthouse in Port Dickson. We did order 1 kg of the famous grilled crab, a plate of vegetables, a plate of "tauhu" & a claypot of pork with salted fish & dried chilies! The total bill of the day is RM 95 for 4 person with the crab alone cost RM 45 per kg! The crab was great with some unexplainable taste and scent! Others side dishes was so so only! The grilled crab or baked crab...or whatever u want to call it is WORTH a try if you are in the Seremban town!

Remarks:-

  • Address: Lot 3794, 3795, Tuanku Munawir, 70200 Seremban, NS

  • Phone: 06-7610010

  • Directions: After the Seremban toll, turn left, go straight till you see the terminal 3 on your left, traffic light turn left... headed straight.. pass 2 traffic light... you will see a crab signboard on your left... is the first seafood restaurant on that street....

  • Tanjung Tuan @ Cape Rachado photo shoot spree!!

Date: 7 November 2009 Time: Morning till late evening
Tanjung Tuan or Cape Rachado (as named by the Portuguese, meaning Broken Cape) is an exclave of the state of Malacca, Malaysia. It is a cape with a lighthouse facing the Strait of Malacca. Though it is administered by the Malacca state government, the area used to fall under the sovereignty of Negeri Sembilan which surrounds it.

After Portugal conquered Malacca in 1511, the Portuguese wanted to build a lighthouse to guide its ships. Tanjung Tuan was chosen and the cape was named Cape Rachado by them. Subsequently, a lighthouse was built between 1528 and 1529. As Malacca switched hands to the Dutch and later to the British in 1641 and 1824 respectively, so too did the possession of the structure.I am here for some photography practice. Here are some of my shots:-

Remarks;- All photo's are taken within the surrounding area of Tanjung Tuan lighthouse. It was a day full of activities with photo shoots of 8 TV artistes, Brand's TV commercial shooting & 8 TV Chinese New Year MV shoot!! Weather is extremely hot and sunny with temperature easily soars to 36 degrees Celsius! I am here courtesy of an invitation from a buddy of mine who was here to shoot some TV commercial for Brands.

    Loy kratong celebration 2009

Loy Krathong is held on the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar. In the western calendar this usually falls in November. "Loi" means "to float". "Krathong" is a raft about a handspan in diameter traditionally made from a section of banana tree trunk (although modern-day versions use specially made bread 'flowers' and may use styrofoam), decorated with elaborately-folded banana leaves, flowers, candles, incense sticks etc. During the night of the full moon, many people will release a small raft like this on a river.

People will also cut their fingernails and hair and add them to the raft as a symbol of letting go of the bad parts of oneself. Many Thai believe that floating a krathong will create good luck, and they do it to honor and thank the Goddess of Water, Phra Mae Khongkha (พระแม่คงคา).

The Thai tradition of Loy Kratong started off in Sukhothai, but is now celebrated throughout Thailand, with the festivities in Chiang Mai and Ayutthaya being particularly well known.

In Chiang Mai Loi Kratong is also known as "Yi Peng". Every year thousands of people assemble to float the banana-leaf krathong onto the waterways of the city, honouring the Goddess of Water. A multitude of Lanna-style sky lanterns (khom fai) are also launched into the air where they resemble large flocks of giant fluorescent jellyfish gracefully floating by through the skies. These are believed to help rid the locals of troubles and are also taken to decorate houses and streets.

"this is the place i celebrated my Loy Kratong 2009"

"for a change of luck...ofcoz to a better one!"

" I've probably wrote a lot onto the lantern...but all I ask was good health, good luck & more wisdom"

"here it goes my 150bath big lantern....I hope all my wishes will turn into real one!!"

Remarks:- The festival probably originated in India as a Hindu festival similar to Deepavali as thanksgiving to the deity of the Ganges with floating lanterns for giving life throughout the year. According to the writings of H.M. King Rama IV in 1863, the originally Brahmanical festival was adapted by Buddhists in Thailand as a ceremony to honour the original Buddha, Siddhartha Guatama. Apart from venerating the Buddha with light (the candle on the raft), the act of floating away the candle raft is symbolic of letting go of all one's grudges, anger and defilements, so that one can start life afresh on a better foot.

    Winter Flower Garden, Betong, Thailand

This well hidden place at the outskirt of the town is well worth a visit. It is about a leisure and scenery 35 minutes drive from the town center. I am here for some photography lesson & photo snapping session with my new toy!! I am sure this place is the less visited attraction in town as it is only accessible by small vehicle. A great place to unwind your evening and perhaps an overnight stay in one of the many chalet is recommended!!

Here are some of the photo's I've taken during my virgin trip here:-
